Offering the friendly atmosphere and close community spirit of a small town, our residents enjoy the excitement of the area's evolution into a prosperous and vibrant 21st century community.
Located 90 miles south of Pittsburgh, there is something special about Marion County, WV. It serves as the center of a tri-city area whose generation of residents bravely faced adversity with strength while challenging all obstacles in an effort to create unconventional solutions for success. Companies large and small have found that Marion County's location on Interstate 79 make it a perfect place for doing business.
The future for Marion County is shining like a bright light. It is getting re-charged and preparing itself for a very positive future. The Marion County Chamber of Commerce is excited about the numerous changes set to occur: Fairmont State University is currently under a massive expansion plan creating new opportunities for higher education, a new parking garage for downtown Fairmont, along with a new public safety building and the creation of a Urban Renewal Authority will re-vitalize the downtown district and lead to planned riverfront development. The new Gateway Connector will be the needed link from I-79 to downtown Fairmont and the West Virginia High Technology Consortium will begin substantial expansion project that will create hundreds of new jobs. A new middle school along with the redevelopment of the East-West Stadium and 12th Street pool will lead into an entire re-development of the " beltline "area.
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce, in its 53rd year, serves as a conduit connecting and supporting all businesses and development projects. With its long term initiative of "Marion 1st and 21st", the Chamber believes that strategic partnerships are the key to any successful project.
