Job Description: The Marion County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to serve as its President. The President will be responsible for guiding the Chamber's strategic direction, overseeing daily operations, advocating for the needs of our members, and promoting the economic well-being of Marion County. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced executive to make a lasting impact on the local business community.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement the Chamber's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors. • Foster relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community stakeholders. • Advocate for pro-business policies and initiatives at the local, state, and federal levels. • Lead and manage a dedicated team to execute the Chamber's programs and initiatives effectively. • Develop and manage the Chamber's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility. • Oversee marketing and communication efforts to promote the Chamber and its members. • Organize and lead events, including networking opportunities, seminars, and community outreach. • Provide regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors on the Chamber's performance and achievements. • Represent the Chamber in various public forums and speaking engagements.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, public administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred). • Proven leadership experience, preferably in a chamber of commerce, economic development organization, or similar role. • Strong knowledge of local business issues, economic development, and advocacy. • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management. • Proficiency in using technology and digital platforms for communication and outreach as well as MS Office and QuickBooks. • A dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business landscape. • It is preferred that the selected candidate is or will become a Marion County resident.
